Below you will find my hand-picked list of must-have issues being given away for Free Comic Book Day 2018 at a comic book store near you on Saturday, May 5. But before I get into that, I want to speak to those of you who have yet to dive into comics.
I, for one, love comic books, but its not just the stories or the pictures that get me, but it’s also the community. In my opinion, they are one of the most diverse groups in terms of age, race, gender, locale, and, well, you name it. And while some modern readers have moved toward digital comic book reading, its the comic book store that unites us. When I worked in Manhattan, I’d spend my lunches just hanging out with the staff at JHU Comics. It was always an amusing experience, even just watching the different types of people you’d find in a comic book store at 1pm on a Tuesday when all the kids were in school. Hearing a business-suit Wall Street type arguing with a guy in a GWAR t-shirt about who’d win in a Superman vs Hulk battle is just an amazing thing to witness.
And this brings me to my point: Free Comic Book Day 2018 is tomorrow, Saturday, May 5. And if you’ve never been to one, you should start tomorrow to see what you’ve been missing. – Dennis Marrero

The Free Comic Book Day giveaway will be the 50-page issue 1 of the series. The remaining 4 issues will be published later in May.
