Title: Daredevil Issue 6
Publisher: Marvel

Rating: 2 out of 5

I have read very few Daredevil comics in my time. I don’t hate the character, I just didn’t read them. I saw the movie. I even enjoyed The Director’s Cut of the film. I am familiar with the guy and his supporting cast. So when Mark Waid (@MarkWaid) was relaunching and moving Matt Murdock to San Francisco I decided to jump on board.

The first five issues of the comic were amazing. Daredevil vs The Shroud vs The Owl is a tradeworthy purchase. Issue 5’s one off tale of Foggy Nelson was both exciting and touching. Enter Original Sin. Matt’s Original Sin revelation facilitates a need to get in touch with his mother. Unfortunately, his mother is in jail, and not in the convent.

This particular storyline, kicking off here, is pretty much why I hate crossovers. Waid has tried to set up Matt in San Francisco only to have him have to fly back to New York. With all his recent troubles in NYC only hurt his progress in finding his mother and getting to the truth of what is going on. And the revelation of the true problem is…well, kinda silly. I find this story to be contrived, and doesn’t really bring anything new to the character as much as break down something that was fundamental to DD’s origin. I hate crossovers.
